5 Tips for Healthy Eating

Being healthy is an important thing to do, and when winter comes, we tend to be unhealthy especially with the holidays. Here are 5 ways to be healthy during the winter season.

1. Exercise

Even though it is easy to skip a workout on a cold dark day, you need to try your hardest to keep up your routine, because otherwise, you will fall into the vicious cycle of skipping for every little reason. There are many places in Holt that you can go and exercise at, you can go to the gym at anytime at the Planet Fitness on cedar street, Another place is T5 CrossFit located on Gunn road and they are open from 8am- 5pm almost everyday. There are also more places you can to exercise in Holt like Polistic Fitness on cedar, open from 5pm- 9pm almost everyday you can do yoga and dance.

2. Eat fresh food:

It is more fun to snuggle on the couch with a bag of chips, but you are letting nutrition slipe with the sugary foods, to feel better gotta eat better. With more fruits and veggies. You can go to the Holt farmers market for some of your fresh fruits and vegetables, the hour for the farmers market is Friday from 2-6pm and Saturday from 9am- 2pm.

3. Get enough sleep:

Fight the urge to binge-watch your favorite shows this winter and put sleep first, not too much sleep, but try to at least a solid 8 hours. If you are around the age of 15 -18 and sleeping is a problem, it might be stress, but it might be your bed and it might be time to get a new bed, according to Better Sleep Council you should get a new bed every 7-10 years.

4. Wash your hand:

Sound simple, but many people get sick more often during the winter so wash your hands regularly. Go to Bath and Bodyworks and get there traditional hand soaps or their seasonal handsoaps. The regular price is $6.50 and the scents smell good. You can get many different kinds of soaps like exfoliating hand soap, foaming hand soap or nourishing hand soap.

5. Drink water:

Just like in the summer drink water, even though you may not feel thirsty, your body is 60 percent water, so you need to stay hydrated. Take your 40 dollar Hydroflask and keep filling it up. If you do not have a Hydroflask that is okay, get another water bottle. Go to Amazon and search “Simple Modern Summit Water Bottle with Straw Lid” you will find the price is half of a Hydroflask and just as insulated with many colors. You could even stay hydrated without an insulated water bottle, all you have to do is put water in a cup and drink it.
